An incredibly rare Georgian period intaglio seal watch fob pendant.
Solid gold case with floral engraving and carnelian set to base.
The intaglio engraved with; a banner to top to read La Belle Alliance and below June 18th 1815.
The Belle Alliance was an Inn situated a few miles south of Brussels and holds significance in the aftermath of the Battle in Waterloo which, as confirmed to the intaglio, took place on June 18th 1815.
The Duke of Wellington and Prince Blucher met close to the Inn which signified the end of the fighting.
Incredible piece, must have been made within days or weeks of the battle, presumably in England.
