A stunning true early Georgian era Stuart Crystal mourning slider.
Original order in 18 carat yellow gold. Slider bars and plain reverse. The front houses an initials design to centre on mourning hair. The stuart crystal of facet cut finish.
The mystique of the crystals is embedded in the history of the jewels that were made to commemorate the execution of King Charles 1 under Cromwell’s power. The crystals were made to memorialize the martyred Charles, who was of the house of Stuart. Populace wore rings, cufflinks, earrings and slides in sympathy of King Charles.
CONDITION ; Very good for age. A very crisp example. All original and unaltered. One small dent to the reverse. Please view photographs.
